Established
in 1990, China Motion Telecom International
("the Group") commenced its operations
in Hong Kong as a supplier of a wide-range
of telecommunications products and services
with extensive operations in Mainland China,
Hong Kong and North America. It is a listed
company on both the stock exchanges of Hong
Kong and Singapore [Stock Code - HKEX: 989;
SGX: CMTE].
Based on its extensive
operational experiences in Hong Kong and
China markets established within a decade,
China Motion has built up a strong customer
base and brand name and this, together the
newly granted MVNO status (Mobile Virtual
Network Operator) in December 2001, has
enabled China Motion to expand and transform
its business scopes to be an innovative,
high value-added telecom service provider,
with business focus on mobile-related services,
IDD business and distribution and retail
chain.
Mobile Related Business:
China Motion was granted the Mobile Virtual
Network Operator license by the OFTA in
December 2001, marking the formal entrance
of China Motion into the mobile business
in Hong Kong. This new status also acknowledges
the Group's ability to utilize its broad
customer base to develop cross-border mobile-related
services. Meanwhile, the Group targets frequent
traveler to and from China by launching
"2 in 1" Stored Value Card and
other value-added services with value-added
features.
IDD Business:
With reputation and experiences in the China
telecom market, China Motion acts as a bilateral
traffic enabler who links up major operators
and the mass markets in the IDD markets.
Its major partners include local and international
carriers such as PCCW, New World, Global
One, SK Telink, etc. With China's IDD in-bound
traffic continuing to expand and the constant
decline in tariff charges, China Motion
has been successful in expanding geographical
network coverage, from Mainland China, Hong
Kong and North America to those newly opened
coverage regions such as Singapore and South
Korea while UK and Asia-Pacific areas are
under implementation. By March 2002, the
Group's IDD voice traffic exceeded 100 million
minutes per month, with volume growth trend
continues.
Distribution and Retail:
CM Concept, the shop brand of China Motion,
provides the interface for the Group to
distribute telecom products and services
to the targeted customers. Its extensive
retail network which covers Hong Kong and
Southern China will continue to provide
a full range telecom services from mobile
phones, calling cards to maintenance and
repair.
